These terms of service ("Terms") govern your use of Plausible (the "Service"), a daily word game available at plausiblegame.com.

By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Description of service

Plausible is a daily word game where you:

  • Guess the real definition of an obscure word from fake definitions submitted by other players
  • Submit your own creative fake definition for tomorrow's word to fool other players
  • Compete on daily leaderboards based on how many players you deceive with your definitions

A new word is available every 24 hours. The game uses an ELO rating system to fairly rank all submitted definitions based on pairwise comparisons.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Plausible.

User Content

Users submit fake definitions to compete with other players.

Prohibited content

You may not submit content that is:

  • Offensive, hateful, discriminatory, or harassing
  • Defamatory or fraudulent
  • Infringing on intellectual property rights
  • Spam or malicious in nature
  • Otherwise illegal or inappropriate

License grant

You retain ownership of your submitted definitions, but you grant Plausible a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, and irrevocable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, display, distribute, and create derivative works from your submissions in connection with operating and improving the Service. This includes the right to feature definitions in compilations, promotional materials, or other formats.

Attribution

Your chosen nickname will be credited as the author when your definitions are displayed.

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms without notice.

User conduct

In addition to the content rules above, you agree not to:

  • Use bots, scripts, automation, or any tools to submit definitions, vote, or influence rankings
  • Cheat, exploit bugs, or try to manipulate the ELO system or leaderboards
  • Interfere with other players' enjoyment of the game
  • Attempt to access the Service in any unauthorized way (e.g., reverse-engineering or hacking)

We may hide submissions or suspend accounts that break these rules.

Account termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Plausible at any time, with or without notice, for violations of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion.

Disclaimer of Warranties

Plausible is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from harmful components.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Plausible shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, service interruptions, or inability to access the game.

Privacy

Your use of Plausible is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and use your personal data.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Belgium. Any disputes shall be resolved under Belgian jurisdiction.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Miscellaneous

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and Plausible. If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest stays in full effect. If we don't enforce a rule right away, it doesn't mean we give up that right later.
